The Kennedy Center Imagination Celebration™
at Salt Lake City,
2005 – 2006 Season

The Kennedy Center Imagination Celebration™ at Salt Lake City is an arts education festival that engages young people, teachers and families in exploring and celebrating the creative process. The Imagination Celebration brings world-class artist, performances and events into schools and communities, creating powerful experiences for all participants. The goal of the Imagination Celebration is to bring the cultural life of the community to young people and their families through a rich network of arts education partnerships.

The Imagination Celebration is administered by YouthCity / Global Artways. The 2005 - 2006 Season is sponsored by Art Works for Kids.

YouthCity

YouthCity, Salt Lake City's youth program, is designed to build resiliency among young by providing activities that increase self-esteem and sufficiency, augment and encourage education, support parent's efforts, teach job and life skills, foster artistic expression and promote physical fitness. YouthCity includes a variety of opportunities for school-aged youth, including employment, government/ civics, after-school and summer, arts education, and community service.

Global Artways

Global Artways is the arts education component of YouthCity. Global Artways offers events and classes for young people of all ages and backgrounds in a variety of art disciplines.

Since its inception in 1997, Global Artways has served thousands of young people through classes in visual art, dance, filmmaking, muralism, music, theatre and public artmaking activities. All course work is facilitated by professional teaching artists. Global Artways has been recognized twice as a National Semifinalist for the "Coming Up Taller Awards", sponsored by the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities.

Global Artways, the Center for Documentary Arts and the Utah Science Center are founding partners in The Leonardo at Library Square, an art, culture and science center being developed in downtown Salt Lake City that encourages visitors to explore subjects from new perspectives.

Art Works for Kids

Founded in 1995 by Beverley Sorenson, Art Works For Kids serves as catalyst and advocate for quality arts education by providing grants and support services to universities, school districts, individual schools and community organizations. Art Works For Kids also assists education and arts groups in developing funding and support systems within their own communities to help ensure their long-term success.
